Overview

Dublin City University (DCU) is a dynamic public research university in Dublin, Ireland. It was established in 1975 and has rapidly grown into a leading institution, widely known for its innovation, industry-focused education, and global outlook. Beginning as the National Institute for Higher Education Dublin (NIHE Dublin) in 1975, it was granted full university status in 1989, making it one of Ireland's youngest universities — yet it has built one of the fastest-rising reputations of any European university.

DCU is a public university situated in the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. There are three campuses and five faculties at DCU. Around 20,000 students are admitted to this university. DCU operates on an Irish academic calendar with a primary September intake and limited January intake for select programs.

Autumn Intake (September) — Primary and main intake; open to all undergraduate and graduate programs.

  • PG application deadline: rolling admissions; international students advised to apply well before July 1
  • UG application deadline via CAO: 1 February (normal round); direct international UG deadline: July 1

Spring Intake (January) — Limited availability; select postgraduate programs only.

Dublin City University has recently revamped its postgraduate scholarship programs (Bursaries) for non-EU students, offering significant fee reductions that are actively available for the 2025–26 academic year. Students applying to the specified programs are automatically considered for the scholarships without having to apply separately.
