HKUST operates on a Hong Kong academic calendar with one primary annual intake.

Primary Intake — September — The main intake for all undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

  • UG applications (Non-JUPAS international): Early Round — 20 November 2025; Main Round — 8 January 2026 for September 2026 entry
  • PG taught programs: rolling admissions; most programs open applications from September; competitive programs close by January–March
  • MBA application rounds: 5 rounds from October to May (Round 1: October 14, 2025; Final Round 5: May 12, 2026)
  • Research postgraduate (PhD/MPhil): rolling admissions; HKPFS applicants must apply by December 1 annually

January Intake — Available for select taught postgraduate programs only; verify availability at hkust.edu.hk.

Important for Indian Students:

  • Indian students must have an overall average of 85% or above in Standard XII examination from CBSE/AISSC for UG programs

The University awarded over 2,900 scholarships in the 2023/24 session, amounting to approximately USD $94 million in total scholarship value. HKUST provides various scholarships for research and taught postgraduate students which can well cover tuition fees, accommodation fees, and other living costs.
